This book is addressed to candidates preparing for TELC English B2 Technical exam. It contains thirteen tests which include all the tasks appearing on the B2 level of the TELC Technical Examination and allow testing the following skills – reading, language elements, writing, speaking and listening.
The thirteen tests cover various topics related to technical language from different fields of engineering such as environmental, mechanical, chemical, civil, electrical, geotechnical, hydraulic engineering, as well as architecture and computer science. Each test provides a wide range of topics and tests overall language abilities. The topics were selected according to the standards of the TELC examination centre in Frankfurt am Main.
The book can become a useful source of preparation and/or revision for candidates who want to check their skills before they take the exam; it can also be used during TELC courses; teachers may start with whichever test they wish. Numerous tasks can be used selectively or adopted by the teacher to the needs of particular groups of students; furthermore, the book can be applied for self-study as the answer key is included at the back of the book. The key part to practice in class is speaking. The authors, TELC examiners themselves, have checked, corrected and tested all the materials in practice during TELC courses run at Cracow University of Technology. The authors hope that this book will be both stimulating and enjoyable for students, as well as for teachers.
